Division Bi-Weekly Webinars
Beginning September 17, 2020, the Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Adult Education will offer bi-weekly webinars for administrators and program coordinators.

Technology Planning Webinars
The Distance Education Technical Assistance Project will offer a series of webinars in September and October to support agencies in identifying priorities for technology planning. Each webinar will focus on specific areas to improve through the use of technology. These webinars are open for any staff to attend.

Friday Lunchtime Webinars
Throughout the 2020-21 program year, the Professional Development System will offer lunchtime webinars for agencies’ PDE-funded staff. While topics are targeted to specific program roles, all PDE-funded staff are welcome to attend. The In House Professional Development Specialist webinar, held on the second Friday of each month, is required for all IHPDS. The webinars will begin Friday, September 4, 2020, and run through June 11, 2021, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, except holidays.

ANI Statewide Virtual PLC
The goal of this year-long professional learning community (PLC) is to support math teachers in developing and delivering high-quality math activities aligned with the skills introduced in the Adult Numeracy Institute (ANI). After each meeting, participants will work together at their agencies to develop either of the following:
- A domain-specific lesson, or
- A domain-specific math project: A series of three or more related ANI-style tasks which is thematic in nature and designed to be completed over a period of time.
During virtual PLC meetings, members will share lessons and projects developed in their agency PLCs with their peers across the state. Participants will work in webinar breakout rooms to revise a lesson using the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) lesson revision process.

English Language Proficiency Standards Virtual PLC
The goal of this year-long professional learning community (PLC) is to support ESL instructors in creating and implementing enhancement activities aligned to the skills within chosen English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS). The facilitators will present enhancement activities and strategies for implementation during the first PLC meeting, and participants will create and implement their own enhancement activities between meetings. Participants will have the opportunity to review their activities with their peers and provide feedback using tools from the ELPS Institute. Participants will share resources and activities that enable agencies to support learners’ access to quality instruction through face-to-face and/or remote learning.

PE/ILA Statewide Virtual PLC
The goal of this year-long professional learning community (PLC) is to support family literacy teachers in developing and delivering high-quality interactive literacy activities (ILA) aligned with the skills taught in parent education. Participants will work together at their agencies to complete three projects: 1) plan a corresponding ILA for an existing NCFL parent education lesson, 2) adapt an existing NCFL parent education lesson and create an aligned ILA, and 3) develop an original parent education lesson and corresponding ILA using a lesson planning template. Participants will have the opportunity to review their activities and lessons with their peers, implement another agency’s lesson, and submit original lessons for possible inclusion in the PA Adult Education Resources Lesson Bank. Participants will share resources and activities that enable agencies to support families’ access to quality instruction through face-to-face and/or remote learning.

STAR Statewide Virtual PLC
This year-long virtual professional learning community (PLC) will focus on sustaining Student Achievement in Reading (STAR) implementation. STAR instructors and coaches will support each other in continued implementation of evidence-based reading instruction (EBRI) through discussion, activities, and reflection. Topics for the meetings will be determined by participant responses to a needs assessment. Meetings will consist of agency STAR teams presenting on topics of interest, along with opportunities for participants to discuss and collaborate on activities related to STAR implementation. Participants will engage in learning activities between the meetings focused on the topics presented and participate in a discussion forum.
